Check out the PlayStation 5 user experience

Having a good user experience is essential to enjoying your console and gaming experience. No one wants to fight the UI when getting into the game.

Sony has released a sneak peak at the PlayStation 5 user experience to show you from rest mode what happens when you login to your user.

Access to info like your friends currently playing and statuses of your downloads are easy to get to. The card layout reminds me of the ole WebOS card design of yesteryear. The cards expand to show you more info about the game as well as make it easy to jump into a specific part of it. The cards seem very versatile allowing for viewing text, video, and sitting in a side-by-side orientation on the screen with an option to pin it for easy access and picture-in-picture mode.

Parties have expanded functionality and you can easily share things with your friends like what you are currently playing, even watching their gameplay in a card on the screen while you are playing your game.

Joining friends in their games seems easy as there’s a card displayed that shows you what games your friends are playing and which ones you can join.

The home screen has your games and apps in a small row of icons at the top and as you scroll, the entire screen changes its context to the particular game or app you are on.

A nice update is the store is now integrated into the console instead of going into a separate app. This should make browsing it easier and faster.

All told, the new UI for the PlayStation 5 looks like a nice improvement and I love the ease of use with the cards as well as how functional they are.

The PlayStation 5 will be available on November 12th.
